Artist Accountability Project?

Sun Dec 31, 2006, 8:46 AM
A group of us over at the Equine Art Guild site have started an Artist Accountability Project forum topic to help kick our butts into gear to get some big projects finished. You know how it is being an artist....there's always something else to do, or worse, a better new painting to start, haha! I have so many projects on the go that I have to start finishing some of them. ;) Maybe if I post them publicly in a few places, and have people wanting to see them finished, I'll have less excuses not to be working on them. The dishes and laundry can wait, doggonit! :P

Anyhoo, currently in various states of done-ness in my studio include (and I'll try to post these in my scrapbook if I can figure out how, otherwise, if you can't see them here, go to [link] or [link] . Those are my two blog sites.

- working title "Triple Threat". 24"x36". May end up being titled Phases of my Mood. A triptych painting in one. Realistic, yet surreal as it's not meant to be taken literally of being three horse heads side by side, but rather, a moment in time with the horse tossing his head to one side with the disgusted, bored look.

- The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse - A HUGE commissioned painting. 36"x48". I'm a little stuck on the background so haven't really gotten past the sketch part yet. I need the courage to put airbrush to board and start painting that apocalyptic background setting the horsemen will be riding through.

- "Dharma Queen" - 18"x24" pastel of my friend's alpha female arctic wolf named Dharma. (She's a licensed facility, this is *not* a pet wolf.) This one is about 3/4's done. It's looking very good and very true to wolf anatomy. No, this is NOT a "husky" pretending to be a wolf. hehehe Far too many people out there claim their husky/mal is a "wolf" and that's only deterimental to the species' reputation, imho. I've spent a lot of time researching wolves, wolfdogs, and dogs, and there are huge differences between the three. If people knew what wolves were really like, they would agree, they are not suitable pets. Not saying they're mean or anything. Just destructive if kept indoors. :P Not exactly couch-cuddlin' material like Spike or Fido or even a husky/mal/shepherd type dog.

Wow, is that all I have on the go?? Didn't seem like much when I listed them out. Well, these are what's in view anyway. There are various other smaller pieces in my "In Progress" drawer but they don't *need* to be finished. Not everything I create is worthy of finishing. ;-) Sometimes I just have to let them go and accept they didn't turn out the way I envisioned them. Some of the better ones, that I just can't bear to bury away, do get put up on ebay from time to time under my handle of the-sketch-pad, so keep an eye on there if you fancy some smaller horse or other types of art. :)
